Jack White — Corporation
Corporation is the latest single from modern rock ‘n’ roll icon Jack White, who has been steadily offering fans tastes of his upcoming solo album Boarding House Reach ahead of its March 23 release. A beat-driven jam with distorted vocals and numerous guitar layers, this one plays hard and heavy throughout its nearly 6-minute runtime, and lends itself perfectly to your next sweaty workout session.
Justin Timberlake (featuring Chris Stapleton) — Say Something
Justin Timberlake has teased fans about his upcoming album Man of the Woods, saying that it would have numerous country flavors to it — an homage to the singer’s rural origins. But Say Something is the first new single (of the three that have been released) that actually delivers on that promise. An acoustic guitar-laden pop song that features acclaimed country singer Chris Stapleton, the song still retains enough of Timberlake’s pop sheen to qualify as a crossover, and we imagine this one will see significant airplay on more bubblegum-leaning country radio stations.
Angel Olsen — Since You Broke My Heart (and more, live on ‘Strombo Show’)
Indie rock queen Angel Olsen opened up her appearance on George Stroumboulopoulos‘ Strombo Show with a special rendition of the Everly Brothers’ Since You Broke My Heart. Short and sweet, her take on the song was a simple electric guitar-and-voice rendition — a fun and vibrant version of the classic that perfectly suited Olsens’ quick-paced vibrato.
Kiasmos — Gaunt (and more, live on KEXP)
Icelandic electronic duo Kiasmos appeared on Seattle’s KEXP radio as part of their participation at this year’s Iceland Airwaves music festival in ReykjavÃc, offering a head-bobbing assortment of dance music that somehow maintained an introverted, almost film-like, aesthetic. If you’re out for a long stroll during these dark winter days, there is perhaps no better company than this lengthy live video, which walks the razor’s edge between hopeful and dark with a shocking degree of elegance.
Ravyn Lenae — Sticky
Those who are after a funky new R&B track to brighten up their 2018 will be positively smitten by Sticky, the latest single from Chicago-based R&B vocalist Ravyn Lenae. Punchy bass and gorgeously layered vocals meld with a crisp drumbeat to form a groovy track that is well-suited to the dance floor.
That’s it for now, but tune in next week for more songs to stream, and check out the playlist loaded with our recent selections below:
